The Merchant Baku Hotel is in a magnificent, historic building that once housed the Caspian Shipping Company. Built-in 1858, the iconic architecture of the building reflects one of the most dynamic and vital periods in the history of Azerbaijan. Located in the heart of Baku, the hotel is a snow-white liner sailing on the ocean, where you can relax, feeling like a member of a sea cruise.
The entire interior design of this hotel is in the style of "The Great Gatsby". Also, it combines a stylish modern design and many original details, including impressive murals showing old merchant ships that once sailed on the Caspian Sea. The marble floors cover traditional Azerbaijani carpets and harmoniously combine with vintage furniture. They create an elegant and, at the same time, individual atmosphere. The Merchant intends to become one of the most exclusive and popular hotels in Baku. Uncomplicated yet elegant, sophisticated, and welcoming, The Merchant will be your second home.
The Merchant Hotel has 63 luxurious rooms. All these rooms have a unique design inspired by the fantastic combination of French architectural styles "Art Deco" and "Art Nouveau". 16 rooms have the advantage of a private balcony. 9 rooms have comfortable connecting rooms that are ideal for families with children. There is also one room for guests with special requirements. For a night of peace and relaxation, book one of our specially designed rooms with no daylight. Enjoy a delightful night of restful sleep and wake up feeling refreshed and ready for a new adventure.
A SHADY CORNER IN THE HEART OF THE CITY
The long-awaited summer has come, it is getting hotter, and you want to hide from the heat of Baku on the shady and cool terrace. So, we prepared and opened The Latitude and Longitude outdoor terrace for the summer season. Here you can enjoy amazing summer food and drinks.

Enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner in our restaurant, prepared by professional chefs specializing in Azerbaijani and world cuisine. The buffet breakfast is minimalistic however carefully selected. It offers a mix of homemade classics, Viennese pastries, muffins, yogurts from local farms, and regional cold cuts and cheeses worldwide. Coffee and tea are served in elegant ceramic dishes that will remind each customer of the crafts and attention to detail surrounding The Merchant Baku Hotel.
THE PERFECT PLACE TO SOCIALIZE
Our professional bartenders designed The Latitude and Longitude bar's drinks program in the cocktail kitchen & ice room. The creation of each cocktail can be compared with preparing a culinary recipe using various techniques, such as fermentation with aging in barrels. Our bartender is always ready to give advice and please you with a wide range of ready-made drinks. It includes classic, favorite homemade drinks as well.
The hotel is located in a very convenient place, near Nizami Square and the old historical area, the rooms are very clean and have all the necessary stuff. Many thanks to the reception, especially the friend Jaafar and Amir, they are characterized by a wonderful spirit and an attractive smile. They gave us a lot of help. Good luck to them. [...]
I stayed In Merchant hotel , the breakfast was great and service the best . Thanks for everything ☺️☺️☺️ [...]
An awesome vibe resonates in this eclectic hidden gem. With first class staff, stunning decor & fabulous music day turns to night in the blink of an eye. Would highly recommend a visit to the splendid bar in this vibrant city. Perfectly refined. [...]
as a native Azerbaijani born and raised in Baku but living in London for the past few decades, family visits are always emotional ... we love staying at the Merchant Baku and keep returning with our frequent visits The Merchant Baku is located ideally in the heart of the city, taking you through the history of generations and centuries how Baku grew with the Silk road expansion and developed through the oil booms ... its stylish decor, comfortable rooms and very special charisma makes you feel at home, as well as its friendly and welcoming team [...]
Excellent hotel with an equally excellent location. It is walkable to most of the city's key sites and attractions. The hotel staff were very welcoming and friendly. They accommodated my early arrival of 6am and provided me a room ahead of the regular afternoon check in time. The hotel is beautiful and well appointed with multiple dining areas with my favorite being an outdoor restaurant area that is along one of the best nightlife pedestrian streets. The Latitude and Longitude Bar at this hotel also has some of the best cocktails :) [...]
It was a great time that I spent in Baku this time and most of the credit goes to the hotel and its management. I am definitely returning.. The management has a personal touch that I have never experienced before, especially when I received a piece of pie to celebrate my birthday when I totally forgot about it. The location is amazing and the housekeeping kept the room clean, arranged, and restocked with all consumables. The room TV has many great and wide range of channels. I really couldn't find any issues to complain about. The stay at this hotel made my Baku visit amazing. [...]
I've been to a lot of countries, but I haven't often met such level of hospitality and service. Hotel is decorated in an art-deco style, rooms are nice and comfortable, the place is perfect — very close to the city center, surrounded by a lot of restaurants and places to see. The restaurant at the hotel is tasty and has a very lovely terrace right on the pedestrian street. Huge thanks to restaurant director Murad and administrator Mushvik. Highly recommend. [...]
Recently stayed here for 2 nights and hotel is in perfect location for Old Town & Freedom Square. Great hospitality throughout and rooms very clean & tastefully decorated. Highly recommend visiting the restaurant/bar as the food was delicious. The only things I would change are that the tea /coffee selection in the room was very basic and cheap for a premium hotel & also there is no shelf in the shower to store toiletries etc. Overall though I would highly recommend and definitely visit again if in Baku. [...]
I had a pleasant 1 week stay at the Merchant Baku Hotel. Friendly staff trying to take care of their guests, cosy atmosphere, spacious room and empty gym. The location is amazing, right between the beautiful old city and the pedestrian area with all the caffees and restaurants. Also the restaurant has a great atmosphere. Snacks and cocktails were great, but you would want to avoid having a complete dinner. I tried several things but experienced the most disappointing striploin (chewey, with lots of nerves and definitely not medium rare as asked) and lamb rack with pomegranates (again very chewey). Not really acceptable for dishes that in some cases have close to Scandinavian prices. So do yourself a favour and enjoy the absolutely delicious local food in the old town. Ps the music in the restaurant tends to be too loud, especially during the weekend, killing a bit the cosy atmosphere vibes. [...]
Love this place! Very hospitable, friendly and great service! Food also fab! Highly recommend , special call out to Nahid in the bar / restaurant and also all the front of house team including Jafar ! The proximity to all the great restaurants, bars and old city is fantastic too. Much to see and do. [...]
The merchant baku is an excellent hotel with great location, located in the heart of the city. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed and taken care off. The rooms are beautiful, comfortable and very clean. The restaurant in the hotel is excellent ! They care for you alot ,special shoutout to Mr. Murad the general manager , Leyla and Piri waiters and Mr Nahid the supervisor , each and everyone of them were so caring and hospitable and the food was delicious too. Must visit !!! [...]
Overall my stay was good. The room and location was great. The cocktails at the bar were really good. The only area for improvement would be housekeeping. On areival I did not have face cloths in the bathroom and my one towel was ripped. Overall everything else was amazing. Thanks [...]
Overrated. The service is very slow and it’s overpriced for what it is. I’m not sure if it’s a new hotel or newly furnished one. But the rooms are good the bathrooms are ok. It’s not as clean as it should be for all the high rate it got it’s not as great as I thought. And the higher ranking staff members are bad at dealing with guests. This is a service industry and if they keep it up they will definitely rank lower and lower. I’m not happy with this hotel [...]
Great location. The room we had was huge with a small room to the side. Good facilities within the room and plenty of places to sit in the communal area. The shower in our room flooded the floor. Breakfast was good Didn’t find the staff very welcoming. We had an early morning check in and found it disappointing that they made us pay for a coffee at 7am when we’d travelled through the night. Good facilities let down by unfriendly staff. [...]
The best hotel in Baku for so many reasons: Excellent service and so kind team Restaurant with awesome dishes Rooms and hotel have high level of cleanliness and maintenance. The location…you will not find a better place for sure! It is accessible and close to any interesting point in the city and close to old city and the famous Nazimi street. Breakfast is rich and even when we had to get out early for a trip they prepared us tasty sandwiches. We will definitely come again. [...]
Very nice hotel with pleasant helpful staff , clean comfortable rooms , good breakfast and nice interior. Location is near all the main attractions especially the main restaurant and shopping areas and the old city. [...]
You get what you buy. Very good 4*hotel. Beautiful interior, lovely staff, in the perfect location in Baku since you can walk everywhere and are only 100m away where most tours start. Only 2 downsides: you have to close the toilet seat and the door otherwise you can smell it in the whole room even when room service was just here and it is freshly cleaned. The service at breakfast is very friendly, but super-slow. It takes a very long time for the food to arrive. Just keep this in mind when you have to be somewhere at a certain time. Apart from that I highly recommend this place for your stay in Baku. [...]
One of the best stays in a fabulous hotel with some refined, tasteful furnishings in the recent times. This hotel does really speak for quality. Spacious rooms and excellent facilities including the shower. Above all, what stood for me were the amazing set of staff, who really understand the word "hospitality". I am very pleased and thanks to all of you guys! [...]
The hotel is comfortable, elegant, modern, and perfectly located in the city centre. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. One note: if you are a very light sleeper you should request a room away from the pedestrianised street (Mammadamin Rasul Sade) as it’s a popular street with cafes that stay open all night on Fri and Sat. There was no noise after 11pm any other night. The restaurant serving staff were friendly and proficient. I would give a special mention to Ramadan and Yasher for their excellent and friendly service. [...]
I stayed at the Merchant Baku for 3 nights in August, and this is the perfect place for a holiday in Baku. The location is super convenient, with the main entrance to the Old City less than a 5 min walk away, and Fountain Square a pleasant 10 min walk away on a nice avenue of shops, cafes and restaurants. The hotel is beautifully decorated, with a lot of attention to detail and style. The Latitude Restaurant had delicious food and drinks, and the inside bar had comfortable seating and a live singer in the evenings. The staff is extremely attentive to needs, pleasant and friendly, and treat the guests like they are VIPs. Just a great experience overall. [...]
